Paraprofessionals
Paraprofessionals that work in a classroom (instructional) are required to be highly qualified. They must have at least 48 hours, associates degree, or a highly qualified certificate. In addition to the highly qualified certificate, paraprofessionals that work as an instructional classroom aide are also required to have an educational aide certificate. This can be obtained by the State Board of Educator Certification. Once the employee is hired, they can apply and be recommended for the certificate. The certificate is good for two years.
