Law Enforcement Virtual Trainer
La Vega ISD is fortunate to own and operate a VIRTRA-180 Law Enforcement Virtual Trainer. This simulator is a joint venture between the La Vega High School Career and Technical Education Department and the La Vega Police Department.
The V-180 offers three screens and high-resolution video to immerse trainees in high quality, professionally scripted and filmed scenarios. The V-180 allows individuals to train decision making and marksmanship in a safe environment while providing intense and realistic scenarios.
The immersive experience of the V-180 portrays true-to-life situations taken from actual events. Each scenario is carefully crafted by subject matter experts— based on case law and after-action reports— and are filmed on-location using professional actors. With each scenario’s extensive branching options, trainees are forced to keep their heads on a swivel as they watch the scenario unfold based on their interactions. Scenarios can even be custom built for entities using pictures of their own facilities!
The simulator has been operational for 5 years and has provided training for not only La Vega ISD personnel but safety and law enforcement entities from across the city, county, and region!
The La Vega Simulator has provided training for the following entities:
- Bellmead Police Department
- McLennan County Sheriff's Department
- Hewitt Police Department
- China Spring ISD Police Department
- Connally ISD Police Department
- West ISD
- Robinson ISD
- Hamilton ISD
- McLennan County Probation Department
- Falls County Probation Department
If your school district or police department would like to have individuals or teams train in this state of the art simulator, please contact Chief Kerry Blakemore of the La Vega Police Department.
