Teacher Incentive Allotment
Rewarding Excellent Teachers
Teachers may earn a designation of recognized, exemplary, or master teacher based on their district's local designation system, a credential that will be recognized on their Texas teaching certificate and valid for five years. Local designation systems must, at a minimum, consider the teacher's proficiency as measured by a research based evaluation system such as T-TESS, as well as valid and reliable measures of academic growth demonstrated by the teacher's students. Local designation systems are to be developed with input from a variety of stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, community members, and district leadership. Teachers may also automatically earn a designation of recognized if they achieve National Board Certification.
La Vega ISD's Designation System
La Vega ISD is dedicated to making a Teacher Incentive Allotment designation system that is transparent, collaborative, and understood by all stakeholders. Throughout the course of its development, the district will seek the input of teachers, administrators, community members, and district leaders. La Vega ISD's Draft Designation System is based on stakeholder input and feedback, and can be reviewed below.
La Vega ISD is a part of TIA cohort D, and plans to participate in TIA based on teacher effectiveness data captures during the 2021-2022 school year. A timeline and overview of this process can be found by reviewing TEA's Cohort Next Steps and Timelines documents.

Paraprofessionals
Paraprofessionals that work in a classroom (instructional) are required to be highly qualified. They must have at least 48 hours, associates degree, or a highly qualified certificate. In addition to the highly qualified certificate, paraprofessionals that work as an instructional classroom aide are also required to have an educational aide certificate. This can be obtained by the State Board of Educator Certification. Once the employee is hired, they can apply and be recommended for the certificate. The certificate is good for 5 years.
